Al-Shafia, who is also a member of the Directorate of Regional Command of the Arab Socialist al-Ba'ath Party, stressed the close ties between the peoples of Cuba and Syria, and highlighted the Caribbean island's example and solidarity, amid the war imposed to his country.
On the other hand, the Cuban diplomat reiterated the political and moral support Havana has provided to Syria, while stressed his people's firmness in fighting terrorism.
Santana emphasized that Cuba has supported the right of this country to defend its national sovereignty, and solve the internal problems without outside interference.
On May 25, Al-Shafia formed part of a high-level delegation led by Hilal al-Hilal, deputy secretary general of Al-Ba'ath Party, who visited Havana, and where meetings with several Cuban leaders were held.
