During the homage ceremony, Raul was joined by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Cane.
Raul laid flowers on Vilma’s resting place at the Mausoleum of the Heroes and Martirs of the Second Eastern Guerrilla Front, some 60 kilometers from the city of Santiago de Cuba.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel also laid flowers at the tomb of Vilma—1930-2007—who was an underground fighter and guerrilla against the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship.
Following the 1959 victory of the Cuban Revolution, Vilma led the Cuban Women’s Federation and she was a member of the Cuban Communist Party Politburo.
