Havana, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso on Friday met with representatives of the Young Communist League (UJC) and ratified the willingness to maintain dialogue without the influence of the United States.
During the 2nd Plenary Session of the UJC National Committee, being held in this capital until December 19, Alonso recalled the achievements of the Cuban Revolution in terms of cultural policy, which laid the foundations for the institutional sector that governs artistic production in the country. He explained how culture and its development were a key aspect of the young Revolution, which created hundreds of libraries and bookstores, dozens of cultural centers, museums, theaters and publishing houses.
With that preamble, the minister contextualized the latest developments in Cuba, where culture has been the target of aggressions promoted and instigated from the United States.
The meeting, agreed upon to propitiate debate, the sharing of ideas and collective construction in the name of youths, was the scenario to recall Cuba's cultural policy, founded under the premise of dialogue and direct interaction to achieve the good functioning of institutions.
