Speaking at the annual review meeting of the Ministry of Construction (MICONS), Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged the directors of the entity to work harder, use their talent and be more creative, based on Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro’s instructions for the Special Period, in order to undertake this year’s far-reaching investment program in a context marked by the shortage of resources and the tougher line against Cuba taken by the U.S. government.

The leader stressed the need to produce more cement for the housing program despite the energy crisis and to step up the development of digitalization, including AI, in all production processes run by MICONS, hit by the underachievement of some of its cement factories.

In closing the meeting, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz praised the fact that MICONS's plan for 2025 is in line with both the government strategy to correct distortions and revitalize the economy and the priorities highlighted by the President.

He also made an appeal to overcome subjective obstacles that prevent progress in the sector and to make the most of science and innovation, taking into account that the development of the country depends on the outcome.
