The Cuban Book Institute, Casa de las Americas and the Cuban Writers and Artists Association announced today the 22nd edition of the Julio Cortazar Ibero-American Short Story Prize.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Culture, those interested must submit an unpublished short story, with a free theme, that is not part of any other contest or in the process of being published and whose length does not exceed 20 pages, double-spaced and foliated.
The new edition, the announcement added, will be juried by distinguished narrators and critics who will give their decision in October this year.

The winning short story will be published in the literary magazine La Letra del Escriba and, in book form, together with the stories that receive mentions, by Editorial Letras Cubanas, a volume that will be presented at the Havana International Book Fair in 2025.

Created by the prestigious Lithuanian intellectual Ugne Karvelis, this annual award was conceived as a tribute to the great Argentine writer, one of the greatest in the Spanish language, and aims at stimulating storytellers from all over the world who write in that language.

The Ibero-American Julio Cortazar Short Story Prize has Miguel Barnet as honorary president and the general coordinator is Basilia Papastamatiu.
