Cuba reiterated its commitment to the success of the 2nd World Summit for Social Development, during its participation in a high-level panel held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, as part of the preparations for the international meeting scheduled for November 2025 in Qatar.
According to the Cuban foreign ministry's website, Daylenis Moreno Guerra, ambassador and alternate representative of the island to the UN, affirmed that her country is fully committed to holding this Summit, which represents an opportunity to endorse the agreements of the Copenhagen Declaration (1995) and its Program of Action, in force after 30 years.
Moreno Guerra stressed that the Political Declaration to be adopted in Qatar should reaffirm the three pillars of social development: poverty eradication, full and productive employment, decent work for all, and social inclusion, as well as emphasize their interrelated nature.
Cuban ambassador also emphasized the need for real political will on the part of all member states to reach tangible agreements for the benefit of the people.
