Madrid, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) The arrival of cruises to Cuba, currently limited due to the US blockade, could increase in 2021 when a new administration takes office in the US, according to executives of the sector in Madrid.

The Virgin Voyages company's chair, Tom McAlpin, stated at the recently concluded International Cruise Summit that Cuba is a very important part of the itineraries of its tourist ships.

We hope that with the Biden government, the possibility of reaching that Caribbean destination will be opened again, McAlpin assured, highlighting the benefits of docking on Cuba for his business.

The executive referred that for the shipping companies headquartered in Florida, USA, Cuba is an ideal destination since some ports of the region closed their doors to this type of vessels due to restriction to stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

US President Donald Trump prohibited from June 2019 up to date the trips of passenger ships and recreational vessels from the American territory to Cuba.
