The air strikes conducted by the United States and the United Kingdom against Yemeni cities left five people dead and six injured.
The spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Saree, gave the information and noted that 73 attacks were carried out against several cities, including Al-Hudaydah, Sanaa, Dhamar and Sa’dah.
On the other hand, the United States acknowledged that it launched the attacks in coordination with the United Kingdom and with the support of Australia, Canada, the Netherlands and Bahrain.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that the bombing by the United States and its allies against Yemen poses a direct threat to global peace and security and strongly condemned these actions.
Zakharova warned that a military escalation in the Red Sea may disrupt the positive trends recently observed in the resolution of the conflict in Yemen and destabilize the situation throughout the Middle East.
Zakharova recalled that Russia requested the urgent convening of a meeting of the United Nations Security Council for this Friday with the aim of addressing the latest events in Yemen.
Also, China called on the parties involved to maintain restraint to avoid an escalation in the Red Sea, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning.
The official also recalled that important routes for energy and goods trade pass through the Red Sea, therefore this situation damages the common interests of the entire international community.
