Syrian FM reaffirms support for Cuba, condemns US blockade

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad on Monday expressed his country's strong support for Cuba and its condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for over 62 years.

¨I reiterate our support for the Cuban people and government, and our strong condemnation of the blockade and sanctions imposed by Washington on Cuba, and we consider that by virtue of international law, Washington must lift this immoral and inhumane measure, said Al-Mekdad.

On his letter, Al-Mekdad also stressed that both nations and friendly peoples have maintained solid and fruitful ties since the establishment of bilateral relations.

He reiterated Damascus’ eagerness to continue working tirelessly to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields.

We will continue fighting off challenges and threats the two friendly peoples face, mainly the attempts of American and Western hegemony and blatant interference in the affairs of the two countries and attempts to impose their agendas.
