Paris, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban men's and women's judo teams arrived in France on Friday to participate in the Grand Slam of Paris, a tournament where they will start their 2022 international calendar.

Ten athletes, six women and four men, along with coaches and doctors, are in France to complete an extensive competitive journey, which will start on Saturday at the AccorArena multipurpose hall, the venue for two days of the 48th edition of the event.

The delegation, which will be joined by three athletes on Tuesday, plans to compete the Grand Slams in Tel Aviv, Israel (March 17-19), Tbilisi, Georgia (March 25-27) and Antalya, Turkey (April 1-3) after the Paris event.

Cuba’s presence of the Grand Slam of Paris was made possible by an invitation from the president of the French Judo Federation, Stephane Nomis, and the efforts of the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association.

Cuban diplomats and directors of CubaCoop, headed by its president, Victor Fernandez, welcomed the delegation at the Charles de Gaulle airport.
