Cuba exhibits biotech developments at Russian health care week

The leading products of the Cuban biotechnological and pharmaceutical sector are on display at the Russia Health Care Week 2023, Idania Caballero, director of the BioCubaFarma office in this capital, confirmed on Thursday.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the representative of the Cuban Group of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries in Moscow said that this event facilitates Russian companies to know the potentialities to produce medicines for diseases such as diabetes or cancer, developed in the Cuban scientific centers.

About the issue, she gave as an example Heberprot-p, a unique medicine for treating diabetic foot ulcers, based on human growth factor, which is registered within its principal medicine list in Russia.

Caballero also commented on three projects developed by the Skolkovo Innovation Center that have passed the clinical trial phase and are in the early stages of development for treating neurological diseases and malignant carcinomas.

The Russia Health Care Week 2023 showcases all progress and attracts new partners for bilateral cooperation, besides revealing Cuba’s scientific and technological potentialities in the Caribbean Sea.

Cuba has been participating in this kind of exhibition for four years. It represents the major healthcare project in Russia, where several initiatives, including international trade fairs, congresses, forums, conferences, and other events, are held.
