Morales, who has been one of Guatemala's best-loved comedians, took oath before the legislature in a solemn ceremony.
With his left hand on the Constitution, Morales swore respect to the law and commitment to exercise the presidency with "patriotic love."
The 46-year-old right-winger, set to govern the country from 2016-2020, arrived at the Miguel Angel Asturias Cultural Center with his wife, Gilda Patricia Marroqui Argueta de Morales, and held his mother in an emotional embrace before ascending the stage.
Morales was sworn-in by speaker of the Parliament and opposition member Mario Taracena Diaz Sol, who also handed over to Morales the presidential sash and badge.
Vice-President elect Jafeth Cabrera was also administered the oath of office in the same ceremony.
