Russian Emergencies chief visits Fire Department in Cuba

Russian Minister of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, visited the the Cuban Fire Department (CBC) in this capital on Wednesday.
As part of his working visit to Cuba to strengthen cooperation, Lieutenant General Kurenkov visited the Special Rescue Unit, where he met with members of the Interior Ministry (MININT) and the CBC.
There, he was briefed on the strategic projections of the bilateral cooperation and the Center’s missions, including the internationalist contribution of its members in disaster-stricken countries.
The Russian emergency minister will also visit the Cuban-Russian Regional Rescue and Firefighter Training Center (CRESB), where specialists from Cuba and other Latin American countries are trained.
There, a donation consisting of motorized firefighting techniques and other equipment will be handed over, as part of the cooperation agreements that also provide for the participation of Russian specialists in training courses in the Caribbean nation.
As part of the agenda in Cuba, Kurenkov and his accompanying delegation will attend the reopening of the Cuban Firefighters Museum and pay tribute to the Soviet soldiers who died during their missions in Cuba.
The Russian delegation’s visit coincides with this Wednesday’s celebration of Cuban Firefighters’ Day and is considered in this capital another sign of the solidarity and cooperation relationships between the two countries in several spheres.
