Russian President Vladimir Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, of the meeting he held Friday with US leader Donald Trump, the pul_1 channel on the Telegram social network reported.

“Lukashenko and Putin just spoke by phone,” the channel reported, adding that the leaders discussed the regional situation in the context of the negotiations that took place in Alaska, and Putin informed his Belarusian counterpart in detail about the results of the Russian-US summit.

In addition, the dignitaries discussed “certain issues of Belarusian-Russian relations” during the phone call.

On Friday, the presidents of Russia and the United States, Putin and Trump, held a two-hour and 45-minute summit in Anchorage, Alaska, their first meeting since the Republican politician returned to the White House last January.

The meeting was aimed at finding a solution to the conflict in Ukraine and improving relations between the United States and Russia.

After the summit, Trump stated that it was now up to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to finalize the peace deal.

Trump announced that he would receive his Ukrainian counterpart in the Oval Office on Monday and also indicated that he was confident a meeting between Putin and Zelensky could be arranged soon.
