Poet, essayist, and translator Nancy Morejon, winner of the 2001 National Prize for Literature, will be the guest of honor at the Cuban Literature Jubilee program in this capital.
Hosted by journalist and literary critic Fernando Rodriguez Sosa, the event will take place at Havana’s Fayad Jamis Bookstore on Wednesday afternoon, the Cuban Book Institute (ICL) informed.
This event will present the third Cuban edition of the renowned writer’s book, “Nacion y Mestizaje en Nicolas Guillen,” published by Letras Cubanas Publishing House and awarded the 1980 Enrique Jose Varona UNEAC (National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists) Prize and the 1983 Mirta Aguirre Prize.
Author of a wide-ranging and renowned work, Nancy Morejon’s bibliography includes more than 50 collections of poetry, including “Mutismos,” “Richard trajo su flauta y otros argumentos,” and “La Quinta de los Molinos,” a dozen collections of essays, such as “Fundacion de la imagen,” “Poetica de los altares,” and “Dos estudios sobre Nicolas Guillen,” and many translations of French-speaking writers.
Translated into more than 14 languages since the 1980s, her texts have appeared in anthologies and periodicals, both within and outside the island, the ICL stated.
