President of the National Defense Council reviews Cuba's current situation

The President of the National Defense Council, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, reviewed the situation the country is going through with the disruption of the national electricity system and the effects of Hurricane Oscar in the eastern part of the island.
The President said the country was going through an exceptional situation, marked by two very complex events: the energy emergency and the effects of the hurricane.
During the meeting, the measures to face the meteorological event and protect the population were discussed with each province.
The first secretaries of the Party and the governors of the eastern provinces explained in detail the measures taken.
In his speech, the President denounced the blockade policy of the United States government, which has deprived the country of a stable supply of fuel, one of the main causes of the collapse of the national electricity system.
Díaz-Canel said that the country was working in two directions: to stabilize the National Electric System and to continue working to obtain a stable supply of fuel that would allow us to achieve a better situation.
The President of the National Defense Council highlighted the unity and solidarity of the Cuban people in facing these situations, as well as the dedication of the electrical workers who are committed to achieving stability of service.
With regard to specific facts of public disorder that have occurred in Havana, the President clarified that there are mechanisms to respond to any concern, but "we will not allow vandalism and much less to alter the tranquility of our people".
