Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel held a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Lesly David, the head of state reported today on his account on the social media platform X.

“It was a great pleasure to receive Ambassador Lesly David on the occasion of his first visit as Permanent Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA),” he wrote.

“I reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to this important mechanism to advance toward the necessary integration among the countries of our region,” he added.

SELA is a regional intergovernmental organization headquartered in Caracas, Venezuela, and composed of 28 Latin American and Caribbean countries. The entity was established on October 17, 1975, through the Panama Constitutive Convention.
