Activists of the Los Angeles Hands Off Cuba Committee (LAHOC) reiterated their demand to the Government of the United States to lift the economic blockade that is causing so much damage to the Cuban people.

According to a press release sent to Prensa Latina, the LAHOC members raised their voices in a women’s march in which more than 35,000 people in that California city participated on March 8 to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Among the demands from participants, a predominantly female and young crowd that came out to defend abortion amid the current conservative policies of President Donald Trump’s administration, those in solidarity with Cuba reiterated the need to eliminate not only the economic but also financial and commercial blockade that is trying to stifle the Caribbean nation.

The text noted that they also set up a table with information and a giant banner that read: “End the US blockade against Cuba, remove Cuba from Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.”

During the march, the LAHOC team distributed 1,500 leaflets titled “Women in Cuba: Revolution in the Revolution,” explaining the achievements made by women since 1959 and the new Family Code.

The young female activists also sold books and buttons and registered for the delegation that will travel to Cuba to participate in May Day celebrations.
