The disappointments that more than one person gets now in the use of AI will be the subject of jokes and anecdotes in the future, when that tool becomes the most common.

That is what the many blunders and crazy behaviors that were associated on this Island with the beginning of computing and Internet browsing have become.

One of the journalists who witnessed and was the protagonist of those early days tells CubaSí that when, together with another colleague, he traveled from his province to Havana to register the newly created site of a digital newspaper, when they were asked to fill in the user and password fields for the first time, both of them put their hands on their heads and announced sadly: we have to buy a ticket and go back home: the one we had thought of was left in the drawer of the desk at work.

As for the press, when Internet browsing began, one or two PCs were located in a room set up for that purpose, preferably with a barred door or with padlocks and locks, and when someone ventured to immerse themselves in the adventure, they had to write down on a form the start and ending time, the websites visited and for what purpose. It seems that at that time the existence of the browsing history, which is recorded by the computer itself, was unknown.

The story of opening the window is well-known – in a computer class, the teacher tells the student to open the window (in Windows) and the student stands up and walks to the classroom window  to open it– but perhaps not so well-known is the one in which someone was seen almost buried on the desk drawer, mouse in hand, because the cursor was guiding him and not vice versa.

But perhaps one of the best stories from that time is that of the two website designing beginners. Engaged, by trial and error, in creating a digital portal, one suggests to the other: use Java, dude. The other one replies almost annoyed: but concentrate, why do you want a bag right now, man!
