Ho Chi Minh City wants to promote cooperation with Cuba

Hanoi, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Ho Chi Minh City wants to promote the cooperation with Cuba in fields of mutual interest to consolidate in a practical manner the traditional relations of collaboration between Vietnam and the island, an authority of this city affirmed.

It is necessary to strengthen assitance in tourism development, exchange activities between young people and students; increase the granting of scholarships to students from Ho Chi Minh City to study in Cuba and to young Cubans to continue their studies in this city, Phan Thi Thang said.

The vice-chairwoman of the People´s Committee received the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex) Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, to whom she thanked the Communist Party, the State and the Cuban people for their support preventing and controlling the Covid-19.

In that sense, Thi Thang proposed that the Caribbean nation share its operational experience in the consultation and treatment of diseases, the development of community health and the production of medicines, according to the VNA news agency.

Malmierca Díaz, who is on a working visit to Vietnam, expressed interest in learning from Ho Chi Minh City about issues related to the construction and management of high-tech parks, so that the island can apply them in the process of economic development.

Cuba wants to promote trade promotion activities between this city companies and Cuban companies, as well as exchange experiences in areas where the two sides have advantages, such as health and agriculture, he said.

Referring to the upcoming official visit to Vietnam by Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, he noted that it becomes a practical activity aimed at cultivating the construction, consolidating and developing the relationship between the two countries to a new height.
