Chilean-Canadian moviemaker Christian de la Cortina's film Undocumented, which deals with modern slavery in the United States, was premiered in Havana on Friday.

The motion picture, which tells the story of an immigrant who flees his country in search of safety, but upon reaching his destination is confronted by the same problems, was screened at the Chaplin theater, according to Cubacine.

Here the character of Raúl represents the rebellious slave who wants freedom and challenges authority, Cubacine reported on Facebook.

Press reports indicated that in addition to this premiere in Havana, the film will be shown in the Canadian cities of Montreal and Toronto.

Undocumented competed in the latest edition of the Gibara International Low-Budget Film Festival, in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín, where it had a special presentation for around 200 people.

In the movie, Christian de la Cortina also takes on the role of an artist, Fernando, a Mexican of Chilean origin who flees Mexico after being arrested and tortured.
