Diaz-Canel presides over national ceremony for the start of school year

PINAR DEL RIO, Cuba, Nov 28 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban communist party and president of the country, attends today the national ceremony for the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year in Pinar del Rio(westernmost province), a province severely affected by Hurricane Ian.
The Pepito Tey elementary school, located at kilometer 14 of the road to La Coloma, hosts the beginning of the new school term, as it is one of the 477 educational institutions damaged in Pinar del Rio by the hydrometeorological event and recently repaired.
More than a hundred schools have already been recovered in the western province, while work is being carried out in about 50 thanks to construction brigades made up of families, workers of the sector, micro, small and medium enterprises, among others.
The event was also attended by Army Corps General Ramon Espinosa Martin, member of the Political Bureau and first vice minister of the FAR; Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, member of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party and head of the attention to the social sector
department; Jose Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, Cuban deputy PM; the highest authorities of the province; Aylin Alvarez Garcia, first secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League; Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella, minister of education; among others.
