Cuba's largest province is trying to become one of the country's main tourist destinations; that's why, its International Airport is taking advantage of flights from North America.

Four charters operate in the region, according to Lisandra Díaz, head of the Operations Unit, a work that has facilitated the arrivals of American Airlines by the end of the year, with two flights a week.

In addition to the constant arrivals of Cubans who come to visit their relatives, the flights serve to connect Cayo Cruz with nature tourism lovers in the United States, Barbara Colina, representative of American Airlines in Camagüey, noted.

“Since 2022, 40 percent of travelers with US passports have arrived on Saturdays for a day trip to Cayo Cruz,” she pointed out.

This is a sign of the popularity gained by Camagüey’s northern coast, where several tour operators are working to promote it as a favorite destination for sun and beach in Cuba, and for which Camagüey’s International Airport will be already in 2024 an enclave of transcendental importance in tourism.

Precisely, over the last few months of 2023, several tour operators met off Camagüey’s north coast to discuss the potential of the region, which connects the extensive area of Jardines del Rey that unites Ciego de Avila and Camagüey provinces.
