Replacing Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed a week ago in Tehran, the capital of Iran, in an attack by Israel, Yahya Sinwar is the new political representative, while platforms assume that he is sheltered in the tunnels of Gaza, “represents the most hard and belligerent line of the group”.

“The Hamas resistance movement announces the election of Commander Yahya Sinwar as head of its political bureau, replacing the martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh, may God have mercy on him,” said the Hamas Palestinian Resistance Movement.

Hamas announced at the weekend that urgent consultations had begun between the political bureau and the council of the Shura, a secret advisory body primarily religious to decide who would hold the office.

When Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated, Hamas reported that it was “a day of overwhelming anger in denouncing the crime of murder, in rejection of genocide in the Gaza Strip, and in defense of our land, our Jerusalem and our blessed Al Aqsa Mosque”.

Israel’s genocide over Gaza has left more than 39,653 Palestinians killed by the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
