The Cuban team scheduled to play at the 3rd edition of the Premier 12 Baseball Tournament on November 9-24 has lost pitcher Ronald Bolaños, the Cuban Federation of this sport announced on Wednesday.
In a post on X, the sports federation explained that the pitcher informed them that other commitments would prevent him from being part of the team for this event where the 12 top-ranked nations of the world will participate.
The text points out that Bolaños’ decision is respected, although all the paperwork was already in order, including his visa to travel to Taiwan, the host country of Group B where, in addition to the teams of China Taipei and Cuba, the groups of the Dominican Republic, Australia, South Korea, and champions from Japan will compete as of November 13.
Mexico’s Guadalajara and Tepic will host the A section where the teams from the United States, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Netherlands, and Mexico will play four days earlier.
Bolaños, 28, had previously played in the US professional Major League Baseball (MLB), where he played one season with the San Diego Padres and three with the Kansas City Royals between 2019-2022, with a record of four losses and an average of 5.25 runs per game.
