On the occasion of the 215th anniversary of the Grito de Dolores, Cuba today greeted the Government and people of Mexico on their Independence Day.
On behalf of the Government of Cuba, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero congratulated the Mexican people on X for their National Holiday, which commemorates the uprising of September 16, 1810, led by Father Miguel Hidalgo.
The Premier also thanked the North American nation for its support and solidarity.
Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in a message on the same social network, ratified his country's willingness to continue developing ties of friendship and cooperation.
From September 8th until this Tuesday the 16th, Cuba has held a cultural program in honor of Mexico's Independence Day.
Both nations have maintained a strong historical and cultural bond, in addition to diplomatic relations which this year marked their 123rd anniversary.
With the Grito de Dolores—a call to the people of Dolores Hidalgo to rise up in arms against the rule of Spain—the Mexican War of Independence began. It would last for 11 years, until September 27, 1821.
During the national celebrations, thousands of Mexican families gather in town squares, main city centers, and city hall buildings to commemorate the Grito de Independencia.
