The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, on Friday urged people of good will around the world to condemn the US blockade against Cuba.
On speaking at a virtual forum on the International Workers' Day, Gonzalez recalled that the US blockade against his country has been tightening with over 200 measures during the Trump administration (2017-2021).
He also highlighted the progress made by Cuba in the area of health, which has meant, he said, huge efforts and are possible thanks to an iron will to build an increasingly fair and equitable society.
Over 80 representatives of trade unions, youth, women's and political organizations from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas are participating in this virtual meeting, which will last until tomorrow under the slogan 'United We Shall Overcome.'
The event's program includes a tribute to the health sector workers who remain on the front line of the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
