Meeting, sharing and dancing with even more active Argentine stars has been a gift in this Gala for the Centenary of the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colón, Cuban prima ballerina Viengsay Valdés said

In a brief interview with Prensa Latina before leaving the Argentine capital, the artistic director of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) said she felt “honored by this invitation for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of an emblematic dance group on an international scale.

Viengsay was among the 16 figures invited as guests of honor by the management of the Argentine company headed by dancer, choreographer and dance teacher Julio Bocca.

“I have coincided with dance friends I have known for years, dancers, teachers, choreographers whom I appreciate and admire so much,” she assured.

“All of them have grown and then triumphed in other countries and to see them gathered here today is a treasure for the audience that acclaimed them, which I must emphasize has been very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about dance,” acknowledged the talented artist in reference to the audience that filled the theater on Thursday night.

The Cuban Prima Ballerina was assigned a pas de deux from “Carmen”, a piece she shared with the Argentine Emmanuel Vázquez, Prima Ballerina of the Ballet of Santiago de Chile, as partner.
