President Miguel Diaz-Canel commemorated the 70th anniversary of Manifesto No. 1 of the M-26-7 (July 26 Movement) to the people of Cuba, a revolutionary program drafted by Fidel Castro during his exile in Mexico.
On his X account, the president emphasized that “70 years ago, with Manifesto No. 1 of the M-26-7 to the people of #Cuba, the minimum program of the Revolution underway, the path to definitive independence was opened. #Fidel and his Centennial Generation were preparing to keep their promise. And they did. #100YearsWithFidel.”
That document called for fighting Batista’s dictatorship and outlined the Program of the Cuban Revolution, summarized in 15 points that reflect the essence proposed by the Cuban leader in History Will Absolve Me (Fidel Castro’s words of self-defense at the trial for the attack on the Moncada Barracks, on July 26, 1953).
