Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia is participating in the 2nd High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in China.

The event will be held from July 11 to 13 under the theme “Promoting sustainable development: sustained action for a better future,” the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) informed.

The main events include the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the five parallel sub-forums on the eight key areas of cooperation of the Global Development Initiative.

According to CIDCA Deputy Director Zhao Fengtao, the forum will “strengthen South-South cooperation and lead international collaboration for development.”

He added that China will focus on building a series of cooperation platforms, make full use of the effect of the common fund of global development projects and the financing fund and will innovate collaboration models.

The Cuban leader’s visit continues the high-level exchanges between the two countries, described by Chinese President Xi Jinping as “good friends, good brothers and good companions.”

Tapia will also complete a bilateral program that includes meetings with Chinese authorities.

This year’s edition of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development will bring together high-level representatives from more than 50 nations and international organizations.
