At a meeting held Friday in Havana, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Vietnamese Deputy Finance Minister Le Tan Can ratified the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries and, particularly, their economic, commercial, financial, and cooperation ties.
The Cuban official praised the agreements signed during a visit that To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, paid to Cuba in September 2024 and thanked the Asian leader for his country’s understanding and invaluable support as the island copes with the attempts of the U.S. government to stifle the Cuban economy.
Mr. Marrero highlighted the significance of the rice supplied and the cooperation offered by Vietnam for the benefit of the Cuban population, agriculture and electric power system, as well as the importance of the Vietnamese investment projects in key sectors of the economy.
The Premier referred to his guests as ‘a delegation of brothers’ visiting Cuba at a highly symbolic time which marks 95 years of the Communist Party of Vietnam, 80 years of the Proclamation of the Republic and Independence, 50 years of the fall of Saigon, and 65 years of diplomatic relations with Cuba.
On his end, the Vietnamese deputy minister thanked Cuba for its friendship, reiterated that his visit is an opportunity to bolster the bonds of solidarity that unite his country with Cuba, describing them as a priceless treasure that every Vietnamese and Cuban has the responsibility to preserve, promote and pass on to the future generations.
