Cuban champion Juantorena at home after several days in hospital

Havana, Aug 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban two-time Olympic champion Alberto Juantorena is recovering at home after spending several days in hospital due to dengue fever and bronchopneumonia, Deporcuba reported on Friday.

One runs with the heart, and one runs for glory, but nothing is as significant as when one runs for life and wins. Congratulations, the digital magazine wrote on Facebook.

The magazine published a photo of the 71-year-old incumbent president of the Cuban Athletics Federation, who tested positive for Covid-19 after participating in the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, the United States.

According to the publication, Juantorena was discharged from Havana’s Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK) a week ago, where he was hospitalized for several days due to the aftereffects of Covid-19.

The former athlete is still the only Cuban sportsman who has won two Olympic gold medals in the same summer edition after 1959, when he won the 400- and 800-meter races at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, Canada
