Cuba celebrates Hotel and Tourism Workers' Day on Tuesday, with the country's highest authorities calling for innovative initiatives to improve the sector and generate more income.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero considered this force crucial for the revival of the national economy, which is experiencing adversities due to the tightening of the US blockade.

During a recent ceremony to acknowledge outstanding personnel during 2024, the head of Government stressed the importance of human capital to achieve success in this activity.

Marrero urged professionals and managers of the Tourism Ministry (MINTUR) to strengthen internal communication and maintain a favorable working environment that promotes unity in the face of current challenges.

He also called to strengthen the preparation and updating of those workers, whom he described as the nation’s ambassadors to foreign tourists, local media reported.

Cuba’s Hotel and Tourism Workers’ Day pays tribute to Elpidio Sosa, who participated in the attack on the Moncada Garrison on July 26, 1953, in eastern Santiago de Cuba and died in that heroic deed.
