Cuba Announces Record Cigar Sales around the World

Cuba’s Habano Cigar corporation—marketing premium cigar at the world market—announced sales in 2024 amounting to 827 million dollars in over 130 countries, standing for 16 percent over last year’s sales.

No doubts that we are talking about significant revenues for Cuba, said Habanos S.A. vice-president Jose Perez Martell during a press conference in the opening day of the Havana International Habano Cigar Festival, which runs till February 28th.

The announced cigar sales took place in some 4 thousand 705 cigar sale centers around the world, said the executive.

China and the Asia-Pacific region are the main market for Habano cigars in terms of revenues, followed by Spain, Switzerland, the U.K. and Germany. Cuba ranks 10th because many tourists prefer to purchase cigars in their country of origin, said Alejandro Fernandez-Blano, Marketing vice-director.

The current fair is being attended by 3 thousand 300 participants from 110 nations.

Habanos S.A. is a joint venture between Cuba’s Cubatabaco enterprise and Spain’s Altadis, which belongs to the British Imperial Tobacco Group PLC. Habanos markets all Cuban tobacco products at the world market.
