Havana, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) Literary activities and artistic presentations make up Colombia's agenda in Cuba, where it will be the guest of honor at the 31st Havana International Book Fair, scheduled from February 9 to 19.

According to Colombian Ambassador in Havana Jose Noe Rios, the delegation of writers will showcase the development of its literature and the richness of traditional expressions, such as minstrels.

The group, headed by Vice President Francia Marquez and Culture Minister Patricia Ariza, will have the mission of demonstrating the role of literature in the construction of a new story ‘through poetry, narration, creation, a critical view of society and the rescue of memory’, he told reporters.

According to the professional program, designed by the guest of honor, the agenda includes the performance of the musical group Enkele, which ‘will transport participants to Colombia with their melodies, while a varied film section will be screened with some short and feature-length films that represent the best of audiovisual talent.’

Likewise, the pavilion installed in the Morro-Cabaña historic military complex, the main venue of the event, will have a bookstore with more than 620 titles by Colombian authors for exhibition and sale.

A communiqué from the Colombian Government highlights the presence in the delegation of writers, publishers and academics, including Alejandra Jaramillo, Alonso Sanche, Alvaro Castillo, Angela Mavisoy, Carolina Vivas, Celso Roman, Eliana Hernandez, Ivar Da Coll, Jaime Abello, Jose Luis Diaz-Granados, Jose Zuleta Ortiz, among others.
