Cuban and Congolese prime ministers discussed cooperation

 The prime ministers of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, and of the Republic of Congo, Anatole Collinet Makosso, discussed the strengthening of political, economic-commercial and cooperation relations between the two countries. 
 
The head of government of the Caribbean nation, who is on a two-day official visit, was received Tuesday at the headquarters of the Congolese Executive and later held private talks with his counterpart.

After the meeting, Marrero, accompanied by Collinet Makosso, paid tribute to former Congolese President Marien Ngouabi (1938-1977) at the mausoleum dedicated to his figure.

The Prime Minister laid a wreath on behalf of the Cuban people at the resting place of the leader and dear friend of the island, and expressed that it was a great honor to pay tribute to the man who was the promoter of relations and cooperation between the two brotherly peoples.

He noted the friendship that was fostered between Ngouabi and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and added that Cubans will always remember him.

Marien Ngouabi, led the destiny of his country from 1969 until March 1977, when he was assassinated in Brazzaville. During his mandate he supported the progressive movements of national liberation in African countries.

After the tribute, the Cuban delegation, composed of the Minister of Public Health, José Angel Portal; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Déborah Rivas; the Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Carlos Pereira, and the Ambassador here, Indira Nápoles, held a working session with Congolese ministers.
