From March 11 to 13, Varadero, Cuba, will host the World Youth Summit of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Speaking to the press about the expectations and opportunities this event presents for Cuba in the field of information and communication technology development, Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, First Deputy Minister of Communications, stated:

"I believe this summit will be highly beneficial for all participating countries. In Cuba's case, learning from other nations about their advancements in digital transformation will be crucial—especially in areas related to government digitalization and the expansion of e-commerce activities."

However, Cuba also has much to contribute in this exchange: "I believe the projects led by young people in our country can be valuable and spark interest among nations worldwide. We've not only trained professionals but also developed digital capacities across all sectors of our society.

"At the same time, other countries may find our development of sovereign digital platforms particularly interesting. We've been promoting these platforms since the beginning of our informatization process, which has now evolved into full digital transformation. Ultimately, I think the most significant benefit of this summit will be the partnerships, projects, and joint initiatives that young people from different regions can establish together," the official emphasized.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cosmas Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, noted: "We must remember that even though the event is being held in Cuba, the projects will not only come from Cuban participants but from attendees worldwide. Therefore, we will witness examples of technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and ICT-driven initiatives from across the globe, not just from Cuba."
