Selman, Pan American champion, developed his passion for surfing in the Dominican Republic, where he has lived with his family since he was a child.
Likewise, on Saturday, in beach volleyball, cousins Esteban and Marco Grimalt also qualified for the Tokyo event, after obtaining their pass in the Ostrava Beah Open, held in the Czech Republic.
Chile's Volleyball Federation confirmed the news on its Twitter account by stating that the Grimalt completed with the event in the European country a series of results that allowed them to remain among the top 18 in the Olympic ranking.
This will be the second participation of the Chilean duo in Olympic Games, after their debut in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
The COCh detailed that the Chilean delegation added 48 qualified athletes, which makes it the 5th largest representation that Chile has had in the history of the Olympic Games.
They will be present in 22 disciplines, considered a large number in this type of competition.
