Cuba will play in the Antillean Union Baseball Cup, to be held on February 21 to 23 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, alongside a local team and another from the Dominican Republic.
According to the Puerto Rican Baseball Federation, the triangular event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the foundation of the city, known as the Garden of the Atlantic.
Carlos Delgado, who played 17 seasons in the U.S. Major Leagues and hit 473 home runs, will be the director of the Puerto Rican team.
With the Canena Márquez Stadium as the venue, the competition is expected to attract thousands of baseball fans and to reassert the city's commitment to the organization of high-level international events having a major impact on sports, culture, gastronomy, and the economy, Aguadilla mayor Julio Roldán Concepción said.
