The Canadian tourism market continues to show strong preference for the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach resort, located in the seaside town of Guardalavaca, in Holguín Province, Cuba, during the current summer season, which is expected to bring high occupancy rates in the coming months.
A five-star, all-inclusive property, the hotel is currently operating at approximately 92 percent of its total capacity, with more than 1,000 guests. Due to high demand, the hotel temporarily halted new bookings at the start of the summer season, according to Raúl López Portelles, the resort’s deputy general manager, in an exclusive interview with ACN.
Thanks to partnerships with tour operators such as Sunwing, Air Transat, and Hola Sun Holidays, the majority of guests come from Canada. The hotel is prioritizing events tailored to Canadian preferences, with the goal of increasing visitor loyalty and return rates.
To date, more than 700 reservations have been confirmed for the remainder of the month, and over 400 bookings have already been secured for August, with numbers expected to rise. These figures are similar to those of the previous year and suggest a high occupancy rate that is projected to remain steady through September.
Hotel staff are committed to maintaining high standards in service, entertainment, and recreational activities in order to exceed expectations. Guests enjoy exclusive experiences, including non-motorized water sports, a spa area, and specialty restaurants.
Jointly managed by MGM Muthu Hotels and the Cubanacán Group, the Almirante—also commonly known by that name—has earned several accolades, including Best Luxury Beach Hotel in Cuba by the Luxury Lifestyle Awards, the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award, and Luxury Family All-Inclusive recognition from the World Luxury Hotel Awards. It has also received the French BREEAM certification for environmental management.
Located on the beachfront, this standout property within Holguín’s tourism portfolio has been recognized not only for its economic contributions but also for its coastal preservation efforts. In addition to the BREEAM certification, it was awarded the Territorial Environmental Recognition by the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment for promoting sustainable tourism.
