The UNESCO programme, Transcultura: Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through Culture and Creativity, is calling young creators to be selected to showcase their creative jewellery and/or ceramic work in Caltagirone, Sicily, Italy, from September 23 to 27, 2024.

The programme, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNESCO Regional Office in Havana, has partnered with Mad’in Europe, a growing professional network that connects European craftspeople to provide Caribbean young jewellery designers and ceramists with a tailor-made artistic exchange-training-exhibition opportunity for the first time in Italy.

The Caribbean creators will be selected from some of the 17 countries covered by the Transcultura programme: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Through this call and joint action for cultural exchange and cooperation, the UNESCO Transculturaprogramme will provide young Caribbean jewellery designers and ceramists with new tools and professional connections to develop and advance their careers. 

Persons interested in participating in this programme should click on the link and complete the application form (Showcase your creative jewelry and/or ceramic work in Europe! (office.com) and submit it by 23:59 hours Havana time (GMT – 4 hours), on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
