These days, the former analyst of the US National Security Agency (NSA) and the CIA Edward Snowden, whose revelations about NSA mass surveillance programs generated a global debate, warned about "never trusting" the company OpenAI or in any of its products, such as the popular artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.

This is what was said at the social network X regarding the naming of the North American retired general  Paul M. Nakasone https://openai.com/index/openai-appoints-retired-us-army-general/ as newmember of the board of the OpenAI.

Regarding the company's true intentions that support this decision, he stated: «They have completely removed their mask […]. There’s only one reason to appoint an NSA director to his board of directors.

OpenAI reported that Nakasone's arrival speaks to the company's commitment to "safety and security," and ties into the "growing importance of cybersecurity, as AI technology continues to grow."

But Snowden, who is by no means naïve, calls the decision a "calculated and deliberate betrayal of the rights of every person on Earth."

"You have been warned," he says in his message.

What does the AI say about this alert?

CubaSí asked two questions about Generative Artificial Intelligence regarding Snowden's disturbing warning:

-Can Edward Snowden be trusted?

-Can Paul M. Nakasone be trusted?

To the first he responded in a supposedly Solomonic way for those who don’t know the ins and outs associated with the case:

“His defenders consider him a hero who exposed illegal abuses of surveillance by government agencies and who acted in defense of privacy and civil rights. His detractors see him as a traitor who endangered national security by leaking classified information. Overall, the Snowden issue is very controversial and polarizing. There’s no clear consensus on whether it can be fully trusted or not. It depends on each person's perspective and values.”

His answer to the second question was categorical:

“Nakasone's appointment brings OpenIA cybersecurity and defense experience, prestige and potential useful connections, which can strengthen the company's position in the artificial intelligence sector.”

It’s enough to read both responses carefully to conclude that Snowden's warning seems to be right.
