Member organizations of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) condemned today the persistence of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, despite the restoration of the diplomatic relations between the two nations. During the opening ceremony of the 19th General Assembly of the WFDY, 130 representatives from over 60 organizations, gathered in Havana's Convention Center where they also expressed their support for the government of Venezuela against the economic war imposed by the bourgeoisie of that country and the international right.

The President of the WFDY Nicolas Papademetriou, reaffirmed the world progressive youths' commitment to intensify the struggle to confront the offensive of the capital that seeks to maintain the hegemonic dominance of the great centers of world power.

For his part, the member of the Socialist Youth of America Jacob Perasso told Prensa Latina that his organization takes action to demand the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

He stated that to achieve the normalization of the bilateral relations, the U.S. government must also return the territory of Guantanamo (eastern Cuba), illegally occupied, and end their subversive policy against the Revolution.
