''Cuba can help Bolivia in the sports sector,'' said to Prensa Latina Alberto Juantorena, who won both the 400m and 800m titles in Montreal 1976.

The current head of the Cuban Athletics Federation traveled to Bolivia to fulfill one of his dreams: 'to meet President Evo Morales for what he represents for the revolutionary movement in Latin America and for indigenous peoples'.

Evo met with Juantorena at the headquarters of the Governor's Office in the city of Cochabamba.

The Minister of Sports Tito Montano and the Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, Benigno Perez also participated in this meeting.

Juantorena said that many issues were discussed during the meeting, including how Cuba can help Bolivia in creating a school for athletes in the Chapare region.

'We can collaborate in the technical part with coachs and trained personnel', Juantorena said and recalled that there are several Bolivians who graduated from the International School of Physical Education and Sport in Havana.

Juantorena offered details on the working strategies of Cuba for the development of athletes.

They also discussed about the South American Games, which will be held from May 9 to 20, 2018 in the department of Cochabamba.

Alberto Juantorena, a Cuban living legend of athletics, became well-known in the world when in the 1976 Olympic Games won both the 400 and 800 meters titles.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of that feat and during his interview with Prensa Latina the Olympic champion recalled that moment.

The former runner is currently vice president of the International Association of Athletics Federation.
