Teams USA and China winners of 42nd Chess Olympiad

Games of the last 11^th round were played in the 42^nd Chess Olympiad on 13 September. The press service of the Baku Chess Olympiad reports that the Azerbaijan men’s first team defeated Turkmenistan, the second team won against Bolivia and the third team tied its match with Albania.

After the final round, the first team finished the Olympiad in 12^th place with 15 points, the second team in 26^th with 14 points and the third is 49^th with 13 points.

The winners of the Olympiad with 20 points are the team of the USA. Ukraine also scored 20 points but had to settle for the second place on a tie-breaker. Russia is third with 18 points. Also in top 10 are India, Norway, Turkey, Poland, France, England and Peru (all with 16 points).

Final standings: 1. USA - 20 points; 2.Ukraine – 20; 3. Russia – 18; …12. Azerbaijan-1 – 15; ... 26. Azerbaijan-2 - 14, ... 49. Azerbaijan-3 - 13.

The Azerbaijan women’s first team finished the Olympiad with a win against Malaysia, the second team was defeated by Iran and the third won against Macedonia.

The first team finished the Olympiad in eighth places with 16 points. The second and third teams both scored 13 points. Due to the ratings, the third team finished in 30^th and second in 32^nd places.
