Díaz-Canel Holds Meeting with Governor of Guangdong

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, held a working meeting today with Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province of the People’s Republic of China.
Exchange on Development Experiences
During the meeting, both parties discussed the development experiences of their respective nations and recalled the visit of Fidel Castro, historic leader of the Revolution, to Guangdong in 1995.
Through his official account on the social network X, the Cuban president emphasized the pioneering role of the southern province in China’s Reform and Opening process, a key factor in the country’s economic growth.
“We met with Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, one of the most important in #China, a pioneer in the Reform and Opening process. What we discussed about the experiences of our nations is very important. We remembered #Fidel and his visit in 1995.”
Meeting with Chinese Entrepreneurs
As part of his official agenda in Guangdong, the Head of State also held talks with representatives of more than 70 Chinese companies interested in strengthening commercial ties with the island.
Díaz-Canel highlighted the broad prospects for business relations between the two countries, acknowledged significant progress, and stressed that much remains to be done in order to fully realize the potential of bilateral cooperation.
Official Agenda in China
The Cuban president’s official program in China also includes visits to technology parks, historical sites, and innovation centers.
