Cuban Agriculture Minister Visits Chamber of Commerce of USA

The Chamber of Commerce of United States was the host today of a meeting on the current panorama of the agricultural sector in Cuba, and had the participation of the Cuban Minister in the field, Gustavo Rodríguez.
Cuban Minister Rodríguez explained the plans of the Cuban authorities guided to stimulate the agricultural development of the island, and had a meeting with Carlos Gutiérrez, president of the United States -Cuba Business Council (USCBC).
The Minister of Agriculture in the Caribbean island has foreseen to meet US Agriculture Vice Minister Michael Scuse.
The visit of Rodríguez to United States responds to an invitation by his US counterpart Tom Vilsack, who stated in advanced that he hopes that his encounter with the Cuban minister helps in the zeal of pushing the American Congress to repeal the blockade to Cuba.
The Cuban delegation is formed, also, by officials of the ministries of Agriculture, of Sciences, Technology and Environment, Foreign Relations, and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources.
Rodríguez and Vilsack will visit to the state of Iowa that in opinion of the American holder, represents an economy of diversified agriculture, similar to the one that the Cuban minister wants to help to develop in the island.
