Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday ratified his country's support for Palestine's cause and for the creation of an independent State for the Palestinian people on the occupied territories, with its capital in East Jerusalem.

During a telephone dialogue with his counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, Putin stressed Moscow’s permanent stance in support of the Palestinian people to achieve their aspirations for freedom and independence, the official Wafa news agency reported.

According to the source, both leaders discussed strategies to improve bilateral relations.

Abbas, in turn, briefed Putin on the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause, and expressed his wishes for progress and prosperity for Russia.
