US and Romanian players win titles at Capablanca chess tournament

Havana, Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) The 55th edition of the Capablanca in Memoriam International Chess Tournament will end on Thursday with players Hans Niemann (United States) and Irina Bulmaga (Romania) already crowned as champions in the two main groups.
Niemann drew in the last round against Cuba’s Omar Almeida, with a score of 6.5 points in the elite section, which was unreachable for the remaining nine members of the main group, and on Thursday he will play against Mustafa Yilmaz, from Turkey.
The only player with numerical possibilities of reaching him, India’s Surya Ganguly, who tied with Argentina’s Sandro Mareco on Wednesday, has scored 5.5 points, although he cannot win the tournament because he lost his match against the US player.
Ganguly will play against Azerbaijan’s Vasif Durarbayli, who drew with Yilmaz in the last round.
Cuban players Yasser Quesada, Isan Ortiz and Luis Ernesto Quesada also split the unit against Carlos Daniel Albornoz.
On Thursday, the dispute for the third place will focus on Quesada, Mareco, Yilmaz and Durarbayli, all whom with 4.5 units in eight rounds, who are the strongest contenders for that seat.
