Life in Verses: A Smile
especiales
The first Friday in October was World Smile Day. The original idea was from Harvey Ball, creator of the Smiley Face.
Doctors and psychologists agree that smiling provides many benefits to human health: it relieves stress, elevates mood, strengthens the immune system, improves blood pressure and reduces pain.
Poetry also recommends it. "A big smile is a beautiful giant's face," wrote the poet Charles Baudelaire and from the pen of William Shakespear We receive this recommendation: "It is easier to get what you want with a smile than with the tip of a sword.
However, this time we chose to share some verses attributed to someone who turned his smile into a symbol, the iconic Charles Chaplin.
A Smile
"A smile costs little and produces a lot.
It does not impoverish the person who gives it and enriches the person who receives it.
It lasts only an instant and remains in the memory forever.
It is the external sign of deep friendship.
No one is so rich that can live without it.
No one is so poor that do not deserve it.
A smile relieves fatigue, renews strength.
And it is comfort in sadness.
A smile has value from the beginning that it is given.
If you think that the smile does not matter to you at all,
be generous and give yours,
because no one needs a smile as much,
as someone who does not know how to smile."
